BATH'S SOUTHGATE DEVELOPMENT TO BE EXHIBITED AT BCSC

From 6th – 8th November, the Southgate scale model will have key exposure on Multi Development UK’s stand at the British Council for Shopping Centres’ (BCSC) Annual Conference & Showcase in Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and GMEX

Multi Development is developing the £350m regeneration scheme in joint venture with Morley Fund Management in the centre of Bath. Upon completion in 2011, the Southgate scheme will significantly improve Bath’s retail offer with 37,567 sq m (404,221 sq ft) of prime retail space including Debenhams department store, 3,522 m² (37,897 sq ft) of leisure space, 2,278 m² (24,511 sq ft) of restaurant space and over 90 residential units. In addition, a modern integrated transport hub including a state-of-the-art bus station and new underground car parking facilities (724 spaces) will be created.

The annual BCSC event stands out as the retail property industry’s learning and deal-making event of the year and is one of the UK’s most prestigious property exhibitions. In terms of the number and range of delegates, the scope of the exhibitors taking part, and the quality and profile of the speakers – this year’s event is tipped to push the boundaries once again.
Already over 2,500 delegates and exhibitors have registered to attend the event where the cream of the UK property and retail industry find an ideal platform to do business, to network and to create partnerships. Multi Development is exclusively sponsoring the Conference Showcase, thus are well placed to maximise exposure of the development to delegates.

Paul Sargent, Managing Director, Multi Development comments on the event: “The business opportunities for Multi are crucial. We make contact with major brands looking to expand their UK networks, promote Southgate to the exhibiting companies, build relationships and generate business opportunities. For retailers, BCSC is the hub where they can find new sites within 3 days, expand their business into new areas, meet new development partners and discover investment opportunities all under one roof. Many BCSC delegates will be exposed to Southgate for the first time. I think they will like what they see and hopefully follow in our footsteps and invest in Bath.”

Cllr Darracott, Executive Member for Economic Development, Bath & North East Somerset Council commented: “The Council is delighted that Multi Development is partnering the Southgate Development with Morley Fund Management.

The scheme will be the most important retail-led project in the overall regeneration of much of the city centre in the next decade, and we believe many retailers are keen to come to Bath.” It is anticipated that development shall commence on-site in the New Year with the scheme open to the public in 2011.
