MULTI VASTGOED IS DEVELOPING THE 'STADIONBOULEVARD DE VERANDA' SHOPPING CENTRE BY THE DE KUIP STADIUM IN ROTTERDAM

On 1 March 2007 Developer Multi Vastgoed is giving the starting signal for the development of ‘Stadionboulevard De Veranda’ in Rotterdam. At 16.45 hours Mr Marco Rook, chairman of the borough of IJsselmonde, will conduct the official ceremony. Across from the De Kuip stadium and directly next to the largest and busiest cinema in Rotterdam (Pathé De Kuip), a building will be developed which on two floors will house large shops, a fitness centre and restaurants.

Multi Vastgoed expects that the new shopping, sport and entertainment centre will already open this year. ‘Stadionboulevard De Veranda’ will include The Fitnessclub, a branch of the restaurant chain De Beren and an Asian restaurant. The owner of the new development is the Rotterdam private investor A.H. Kauffman. The rental of the shop space that is still available is being managed by the Rotterdam company De Mik Bedrijfshuisvesting.

Multi Vastgoed has two other locations that will expand the Stadionboulevard in the future by 7,500 m². The theme of the Stadionboulevard De Veranda development is sport and recreation. The new shopping and recreation centre has been designed by Soeters, Van Eldonk & Ponec architects, who were also responsible for the eye-catching cinema Pathé De Kuip with its 14 screens and 2750 seats.

Stadionboulevard De Veranda is easily accessible by public transport and will have extensive parking facilities. The Veranda car park is planned to be fully open this autumn.

Ten years of De Veranda
De Veranda is a relatively new neighbourhood in the borough of IJsselmonde. In 1997 the first pile was driven for the residential, work, shopping and entertainment area on the banks of the Nieuwe Maas river on the site of the former Piet Smit shipyard. In ten years some 850 houses with views of the Nieuwe Maas river have been realised, as well as a cinema, the offices of the police district of Feijenoord-Ridderster and various restaurants and shops, including a branch of Sports World. This elongated area is bordered by the Stadionweg and a pedestrian promenade alongside the Nieuwe Maas.
