Multi Turkmall broke the ground for two new projects in Turkey: Forum Aydin and Forum TEM-Istanbul.
Multi Turkmall, the biggest Turkish real estate developer, announced that it started construction of two new projects: Forum Aydin located in Aydin, the largest city in the Aegean Region of Turkey and Forum TEM located in Istanbul, the biggest city of Turkey. Multi entered the Turkish market in 2004 and has since showed a spectacular growth. Multi Turkmall, based in Istanbul opened its first shopping centre Forum Bornova in Izmir in 2006. At present there are thirteen shopping centres and mixed-use projects under construction and under development totalling up to 1,200,000 m². There is another 500,000 m² of projects in the pipeline.
Fast Mover in Turkey
Istanbul based Multi Turkmall has established its prominent position on the Turkish commercial real estate market with an extensive portfolio of retail and leisure projects realised, under development and in progress totalling up to 1,700,000 m². With its specific “Design & Development” formula the company places high priority on design quality. A new contextual concept in retail development was successfully introduced to the Turkish market with projects that form a new and distinct identity for a location and effect both economic and social regeneration at its edges. Following the opening of Forum Bornova in 2006, Multi Turkmall will open its second shopping centre Forum Mersin in Mersin this October.
For 2008 another five new retail and leisure schemes are scheduled to open: Forum Çamlik-Denizli, Forum Trabzon, Forum Ankara, Forum Aydin and Forum Istanbul and six more in 2009: Forum Antalya,
Forum TEM-Istanbul, Forum Kayseri, Forum Diyarbakir, Forum Gaziantep and Forum Kapadokya-Nevşehir. Multi Turkmall plans to have realised the development of 20 Forum projects in Turkey by 2010.
With its thirteen projects spread over twelve cities in Turkey, Multi Turkmall will create direct employment opportunities for approximately 30,000 people.
Forum TEM - Istanbul
Developed on an area of 75,000 m², Forum TEM is strategically located next to the TEM highway in the Gaziosmanpaşa district. The TEM Highway is one of the busiest routes in Europe, carrying both local and long distance traffic between Asia and Europe. The project site is easily accessible from the whole urban area of the city, including the western and southern suburbs.
The project will bring a new concept of enclosed shopping centre to Istanbul with its modern design. Main features of the architectural design are; huge cone shape domes, transparent facades that allow sunshine to enter the mall and the roof, which looks like a sliding structure and is well visible from the cars passing through TEM highway.
Forum TEM will also support the urban development of the nearby settlements in the Gaziosmanpaşa district. With its hypermarket, DIY, department stores, 20,000 m² of offices, a wide range of national and international shops as well as entertainment areas, Forum TEM will change the total look of its surroundings.
Forum TEM is a joint investment of Multi Turkmall and Meinl European Land Limited. T+T Design, Gouda, the Netherlands created the master plan and the architects are L35, Barcelona, Spain; MM Proje, Istanbul Turkey; and ARUP, Istanbul, Turkey.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2009, Forum TEM is expected to create job opportunities for approximately 2,500 people.

Forum Aydin
Forum Aydin is located in Aydin, the largest city in the Aegean Region of Turkey. Developed on a site of 76,000 m², Forum Aydin is situated next to the former Aydin Textile Factory and retail stores. The Centre is 2 km away from the busiest trade area, Adnan Menderes Boulevard and 5 minutes way from city centre by car. Forum Aydin has good visibility and direct access from Aydin-Denizli highway.
Its 30,000 m² open-air scheme comprises of a hypermarket, a multiplex cinema, department stores and wide range of national and international shops. Forum Aydin also includes restaurants, leisure units and a parking space for 1,500 cars.
The centre’s concept was inspired by the local architectural elements and includes terraces, squares, streets, wooden pergolas and marquis. Forum Aydin is reminiscent to the local environment of the inhabitants of Aydin with its village like concept. Forum Aydin will be more than a shopping centre. It will be a place where they can enjoy themselves and spend pleasant time.
Forum Aydin will be the biggest shopping centre of the city once completed, attracting visitors from both the city centre and its regions. The population of the city centre is approximately 300,000 and Nazilli district, which is 30 km from the city centre, is the second biggest centre with a population of 200,000. Aydin has great economical potential with easy access through its geographical position, proximity to the raw material sources and industrial zones, and a young and well-qualified population. The city improves on tourism, agriculture and industrialization. Approximately 900,000 foreign tourists visit Aydin per year, especially Kuşadasi and Didim districts.
Multi Turkmall is both the developer and investor at the Forum Aydin project. The design was created by T+T Design, Gouda, The Netherlands (master plan) and developed by ERA Architecture, Istanbul, Turkey.
