VIRTUAL IMAGE OF £300 MILLION SUMMER ROW DEVELOPMENT LAUNCHED

Today Multi Development UK Ltd (Multi), developers of the £300 million Summer Row regeneration scheme launched a virtual animated movie of the impressive 600,000 sq ft scheme in Wolverhampton. The movie takes viewers on a virtual tour of Summer Row and gives a flavour of what the scheme will look like upon completion.

It was also announced that Multi hopes to start on-site in Spring 2008, which would see Summer Row opening to the public in Autumn 2010.

The eagerly awaited development includes a Debenham’s department store, over 85 shops, restaurants and cafés, new open public squares and 140 apartments. Summer Row also incorporates a two-level basement car park for over 760 cars.

Summer Row
Summer Row will significantly contribute to regenerating the southern area of Wolverhampton City centre by bringing economic growth and new job opportunities to the city. It is expected that almost 1,000 jobs will be created during the construction period with 1,000 jobs created when the scheme is finished.

In terms of its scale and mix of functions the project will be unique in its field. The mix of shops, restaurants and apartments and the architecture will provide a contemporary city experience with an emphasis on creating inviting public spaces.

Paul Sargent, Multi Development UK Managing Director said, “I’m delighted to launch the fly through of Summer Row to Wolverhampton today. I’m confident that the public will be as excited as we are as this development will surpass any other in the region in terms of its mix of uses and quality of architecture. We are raising the bench mark and creating a new high quality retail offer to compliment the existing high street mix.”

Steve Boyes, Wolverhampton City Council’s Director for Sustainable Communities, said: “Summer Row is a major development that will bring huge benefits to our city. The council will continue to work with existing traders in the area affected by Summer Row, as we have done throughout this process, to ensure their relocation goes as smoothly as possible.”
